Note

Dopaxanthin is produce from the reaction between dopaxanthin quinone and water, with oxygen as the byproduct. The reaction is catalyzed by the tyrosinase precursor enzyme. Dopaxanthin can also be produced by the reaction between portulacaxanthin II, L-ascorbate, and O2, with L-dehydro-ascorbate and H2O as byproducts. The reaction is also catalyzed by the tyrosinase precursor enzyme.
