Gibberellin a116, also known as ga12, is a member of the class of compounds known as c20-gibberellin 6-carboxylic acids. C20-gibberellin 6-carboxylic acids are c20-gibberellins with a carboxyl group at the 6-position. Thus, gibberellin a116 is considered to be an isoprenoid lipid molecule. Gibberellin a116 is practically insoluble (in water) and a weakly acidic compound (based on its pKa). Gibberellin a116 can be found in a number of food items such as rape, pigeon pea, chinese cabbage, and linden, which makes gibberellin a116 a potential biomarker for the consumption of these food products.
